Barnaby Rabbit and the Long Meadow Moonlight Race

Barnaby was a little rabbit with very long, floppy ears. Every night, the meadow animals held a race to see who could reach the old oak tree first. Barnaby always tried his best, but his tiny legs could not keep up with the others. He felt quite small as the stars twinkled above.

The starting whistle blew. Zip, zoom, and dash! His friends vanished into the tall, cool grass. Barnaby took one hop, then two, but he was soon left all alone. The forest seemed very big and quiet without the rushing crowd.
